Serge Nubret Dies At Age 72

By: Domenic Mauro, Athlete Insider

It's with great sadness that we report that IFBB Pro legend, author and movie star Serge Nubret has passed away. Details are scarce at this moment but as more news comes into the MUSCLE INSIDER office, we'll keep you updated. Serge was nicknamed "the black panther" and was one of the most perfectly developed humans in bodybuilding history. His training methodologies were legendary.

Biography
Serge Nubret spent his first years in Anse-Bertrand in a community of 7,000 people. He spent nearly 12 years of his life enjoying fresh air playing outdoors before moving with his parents to the region of Paris, France in 1950. He lived thereafter in the community of Joinville-le-Pont, completing his secondary studies before choosing a business program. During his adolescence and young adulthood, he quickly became aware of his exceptional potential for athletics and recalls this reflection in his book I Am…Me and God; in his own words, dedicating himself to bodybuilding was to become his "reason of being."

His Discovery Of Bodybuilding

Serge returned in Guadeloupe in 1958 in order to escape the draft for the Algerian war. It was during this period of his life he discovered bodybuilding, which he practiced simultaneously while pursuing business accounting. Bodybuilding was not encouraged by his father at the time who was concerned that it did not have as much potential for financial income as an accounting career. Three months after entering the world of bodybuilding, Serge won the title of Mr. Guadeloupe, which he won again the following year as well. He was sent in 1960 to Montreal to show the flag of Guadeloupe in support for his country at the time of the World Championship organized by the International Federation of BodyBuilders. It was there Nubret was named "Most Muscular Man of the World." Returning next to Paris without going to Guadeloupe, he was contacted by the Films Ariane for a role in a Duccio Tessari Italian péplum film called "The Titans" which was released in 1961 and was prelude to a rich career of 25 films.

Pumping Iron

He is best known in the bodybuilding documentary Pumping Iron where Serge competed as a last minute entry against (eventual seven time winner) Arnold Schwarzenegger for the title of Mr. Olympia in 1975. While Nubret looked fantastic, he finished second in the Tall Man category to Schwarzenegger, while Lou Ferrigno finished third. He was known for his excellent chest development, which would scare off fellow contestants. The documentary film Pumping Iron, alongside Lou Ferrigno and Arnold Schwarzenegger, follows the events occurring before the Mr. Olympia 1975—the preparation for the competition as well as its final phase. For contract reasons, his part is comparatively brief; certain scenes concerning him could not be put in the movie.

TV Show Series

In the 1980s, Serge appeared regularly in 60 episodes of the television series Breakfast Included, with Pierre Mondy and Marie-Christine Barrault, in which he played the role of bodybuilder/gym owner in Paris, a role that mirrors his own biography.
During the 1970s, Nubret finished third to the Mr. Olympia in 1973 and second in 1975.

Serge Started His Own Federation

Vice President of the IFBB Europe of 1970-1975, Nubret then founded the WABBA in 1976. He competed up to 1984, when he won his last title of champion of the world to the WABBA. Nubret caused quite a stir in Gravelines in 2003, when he guest posed at the WABBA World Championship at the age of 65.

Book Launch

In 2006, 68-year-old Serge Nubret penned the book I am…Me and God in collaboration with Louis-Xavier Babin-Lachaud. The book is not only autobiographical in nature, but it also includes his personal reflections on his Christian faith and mysticism of the author. Through his life narrative, it adopts a definite position on the role of God in this world, on the conflict between destiny and free will and on the illusion of this world. More than an assembly of memories, the book indicates the will to succeed and to follow the way traced by God, love of the "reason to be" author, that is not other than the bodybuilding.

Autobiography

A second book, just published, is a 400+ page autobiography entitled Seventy Years Young. At the time of release (April 2009), it was learned that Serge Nubret suffered a stroke in Paris, France. As of early May 2009, he is recovering. There are conspiracies circling around the internet, which have been supported by Serge's old friends, that he was poisoned by his own children in an attempt to take his money.

Serge Died April 19th, 20011

Serge Nubret died with plenty of speculation going on about the cause of death. Let us leave the speculation statement out and just say Bodybuilding great Serge Nubret passed away April 19 2011 at the age of 72 as he had been ill. The bodybuilding world and sport has lost another champion of the Golden Era of bodybuilding.

Hamilton police say they've made one of the largest crystal meth busts in Ontario history — which included the arrest of a city police officer.
On Wednesday morning, police raided 23 homes and businesses across Ontario. Officers seized 26 kilograms of crystal meth and anabolic steroids in the pre-dawn raids in Hamilton, Grimsby, Burlington, St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, Sudbury and Mississauga.
Police arrested 21 people.
Police said the drugs seized were valued at more than $4 million. The meth alone was worth more than $3 million.
On Thursday, police arrested one of their own for allegedly leaking police information to the main target of the investigation. The allegations have not been tested in court.
Const. Andrew Pauls, a nine-year member of the Hamilton force, is facing a charge of breach of trust. "He's been arrested and now those charges are before the court," Sgt. Terri-Lynn Collings said in a telephone interview Thursday.
Collings said Pauls was on suspension when he was arrested Thursday for a previous charge.
Last year, Pauls, who remains on paid suspension, was charged after drugs went missing from a police locker.
Collings said the arrest of an officer shouldn't paint the entire force. Hamilton officers, she said, are continuing to do their jobs.
"There's a lot of good work that does take place," Collings said. "From time to time these things do occur."
Dubbed "Project Newton," the 18-month investigation included more than 175 police officers from nine different police agencies, including the RCMP and Ontario Provincial Police. Collings said there were no indications the people arrested this week had gang affiliations. They also were not producing the drugs, but allegedly acting as middlemen and trafficking the drugs.
"This is a loosely knit group of individuals," Collings said.
Project Newton started with a tip about the trafficking of illegal steroids from a nutrition store in Hamilton.
"Through our investigation we also learned there was the distribution of methamphetamines," Collings said.
Police said they expect more arrests will be made in the coming days.
"We're always looking for the suppliers, not just the persons trafficking in them," Collings said.

SCAMMER POSTING W/OUT PROOF IS BECOMING A PROBLEM

There are numerous boards that are opening up with new board owners that DO NOT have any experience on how to run a board properly, for example: they don't check for facts/proof before banning members or allowing members to post up a scammer. This is starting to become a big problem with our community thee days, we have seen customer wars where they try and put their competition out of business by kill a members reputation or posting them up as a scammer w/out proof of any kind at all.....THIS NEEDS TO STOP,  board owners and Admins NEED to check in to facts/proof to make sure everything is true before posting or allowing members to post scammer(s) up, w/out any naming several new boards with "ROOKIE" owners needs to step up and do their research before letting members post up this kind of info. So our advice to our readers is if/when you come across a new board with say around 500 members, be very careful and if you see members that are posted as a scammer, take a look at other reputable boards with VETS as MODS/ADMINS and see if that so called scammer is posted there as well, we would say check about 3-4 boards and if they are posted there as well then they are 100% scammers, also when you do this...check the staff as well as they all can be working with each other to eliminate that member....yes we have seen this happen too (this doesn't happen often). Good boards to check. In our opinion is (this is just several, there are more) OLM, WCBB, GROWXXL, IL, AB, DM, TWC, HM, TIBH, UM, JM, BOS is some of the better boards out there all have different owners and they do not let any member to post a scammer up w/out the staff checking into it and demand proof before posting. So if you want to know if a board is good ask to post a scammer up and if they start asking these questions then you know that the board do their homework....this also helps you know about the sponsors too, if they let anyone post a scammer w/out proof/facts, then you know they don't check into the sponsors before letting them on the board so if you get scammed they most likely wont help you out. STAY SAFE EVERYONE.

Fish oil makes Tamoxifen work better.

Researchers concluded that omega-3 fatty acids found in the fish oil could prove to be a safe and beneficial booster for tamoxifen therapy.

Tamoxifen blocks the female hormone oestrogen's ability to fuel breast cancer.

Rats with breast cancer were fed either a 17% fish oil diet or a 20% corn oil diet for eight weeks. In each case the oil supplement was given with or without tamoxifen.

Analysis of the tumours showed that omega-3 fatty acids in the fish oil increased the activity of genes promoting cellular specialisation, or differentiation.

This indicates an anti-cancer effect, since cancer cells are highly undifferentiated.

Combining fish oil and tamoxifen also reduced the activity of genes linked to tumour growth and cancer spread.

Study leader Dr Jose Russo, director of the Breast Cancer Research Laboratory at Fox Chase Cancer Center Philadelphia, said: "If a tumour was being treated with tamoxifen, the addition of an omega-3 fatty acid diet seemed to make the tumour, at least at the molecular level, more benign and less aggressive and responsive to tamoxifen."

The findings were presented at the annual meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research in Orlando, Florida.

DEA claims China still the number one manufacturer of steroids.

DEA claims China still the number one manufacturer of steroids.

Anabolic steroids are illegal. Possessing them, or selling them, can land you in jail. But buying them?

Just do a search on your computer for "steroids" and "China" and get a credit card ready. Your supplier is online.

"They come from China, from the United Kingdom, from Germany and eastern Europe," said Rusty Payne, a spokesman for the federal Drug Enforcement Administration. "But most of them come from China."

"Virtually all of it today is coming from China," said Don Hooten, president of the Taylor Hooten Foundation, a Texas-based organization dedicated to educating young people about the danger of steroids.

The stuff sold on local markets is not what star athletes get from fancy laboratories.

Instead it is of dubious quality, often mixed and packaged at dealers' homes. If there's lead or arsenic in the stuff China ships, then so be it.

"It's a seedy, bad business," Payne said.

And yet people are using anabolic steroids -- weekend athletes and hard-core jocks alike, Hooten said.

Many are teenagers trying to improve their standing on a high school team. But even more often, it's the so-called "mirror athletes" -- young men and women who use it to tone their physiques, he said.

Police officers and firefighters -- wanting to be stronger -- are users as well, he said.

"Yes, yes, yes," said Hooten, whose son Taylor committed suicide after using anabolic steroids. "We hear about that all the time."

Suspicion of steroid use in the Danbury area was kindled by the arrest of Mark Mansa, of Bethel, last month.

Federal authorities claim Mansa was part of a drug ring that moved more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana through the region.

But for seven years Mansa was allegedly selling what prosecutors called a "significant" amount of steroids as well.

That would imply some people were buying.

Chip Salvestrini Jr., the former director of athletics at Danbury and Ridgefield schools who now serves as athletic director for the city of White Plains, N.Y., said it is pointless to deny that people use illegal steroids.

High school coaches who do so are in denial, he said.

"It's like saying students don't use alcohol or smoke cigarettes," Salvestrini said. "It is around, but we just don't know how much or where. Nobody knows that."

But the DEA has tracked the China-steroid connection, most notably in 2007, the year before the Beijing Olympics.

In a sweep called Operation Raw Deal, the DEA broke up more than 50 steroid laboratories in the U.S. -- the largest anabolic steroid operation in the DEA's history.

That investigation found laboratories in the U.S., Mexico and Canada were getting their raw materials from Chinese suppliers.

Payne said rather than the vials of steroids that users inject, the product from China comes in a dry powder. It then gets mixed with oil, put in vials and sold illicitly.

The "labs" where the mixing gets done, Payne said, are sinks and bathtubs. There's no guarantee of sanitary conditions.

And the oil can be anything on hand.

"It can be Wesson oil, peanut oil, sesame oil," Hooten said. "We found it mixed with motor oil on the West Coast."

And, he said, there are no federal regulators in China to make sure the anabolic steroids materials meet some official seal of approval.

"There's one study that showed 21 percent of what was sold from China had lead, mercury, tin or arsenic in it," Hooten said.

"It's Russian roulette," said Payne of the DEA.

He said the U.S. government is still watching the anabolic steroid trade. Anyone buying steroids online, he said, should be aware that a government sting operation could be in place.

But Payne also acknowledged it's impossible for law enforcement agencies to keep tabs on all the websites and all the buyers.

"The Internet is a blessing," Payne said. "But unfortunately in cases like this, it can be a curse."

OMNADRENS..."The Counterfeit Of Batch Number 910071"

Today we want to show our readers what REAL and FAKE Omnadrens look like side by side and also share some pictures thats being posted on many forums all over the net. This topic has and still is being talked about on almost every board out there, over the last little while we have been roaming the forums and we still see these Omnadren threads still going...we dont blame them as LOTS of people got scammed with these good looking counterfeits of this very popular Jelfa product, it was such a wide spread problem that even Jelfa themselves had a write-up article on their official site about "the counterfeit of batch number 910071". Below you will see the difference from the fake to the real product of this batch. We hope these pictures that we collected and posted up here will educate everyone of these counterfeits and maybe somewhat stop the spread of these amps, so lets not get fooled by these and let the counterfeiters be stuck with them and not us.

If anyone still has the original article from Jelfa or the link about batch number 910071 counterfeits please post it up in the comments section at the bottom.

FDA Announces Finasteride Recall

FDA announces Finasteride recall

Mar 28, 2011

Finasteride has a couple of uses within the bodybuilding community, as a result of its ability to prevent 5a-reduction of susceptible androgens – one is to protect the prostate from enlargement, and the other is to prevent hair loss. Both of these applications make Finasteride a fairly common drug for bodybuilders, except for during the precontest phase, where the additional hardness derived from Dihydrotestosterone can be a welcome effect.
The FDA recently announced a recall of Finasteride and Citalopram – which may have (if I’m reading the recall properly) been mislabeled (as each other). So people who thought they were treating their depression (with Citalopram) might actually be warding off prostate enlargement and baldness (potentially lowering their endogenous androgen levels and getting more depressed). And guys who wanted to treat their baldness and prostate…well, they might find themselves feeling a lot happier if they’re taking one of the recalled batches.

Contact:
Pfizer Inc.
1-800-438-1985
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – March 26, 2011 – Greenstone LLC announced today that it is voluntarily conducting a recall, to the patient level, of medicines with lot number FI0510058-A on the label. This includes Citalopram 10mg Tablets (100-count bottle) and Finasteride 5mg Tablets (90-count bottle), both distributed in the U.S. market. The recall is due to the possibility that incorrect labels have been placed on the bottles by a third-party manufacturer. This is the only lot number being recalled and no other lots or markets are believed to be impacted.
Importantly, bottles labeled as Citalopram Lot # FI0510058-A may contain Finasteride. Patients who believe they may have ingested the wrong medication should contact their physician as soon as possible. Women who are, or may become pregnant, should not take or handle Finasteride due to the possible risk of side effects which may cause abnormalities to the external genitalia of a developing male fetus. Citalopram is contraindicated in patients taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or pimozide, It is also contraindicated in patients with a hypersensitivity to Citalopram or any of the inactive ingredients in the tablet. Patients who discontinue Citalopram abruptly by inadvertently taking the mislabeled product may experience discontinuation symptoms and/or worsening of depression.
Bottles of either Citalopram (used to treat depression) or Finasteride (for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia) with lot number FI050058-A should be returned to the pharmacist.
Consumers should contact their physician or healthcare provider if they have experienced any problems that may be related to taking or using this product. Also, any adverse events that may be related to the use of these products should be reported to Pfizer Inc. at-1-800-438-1985 (24 hours a day) or to FDA’s Med Watch Program either online, by regular mail or by fax

Brian Parker, aka THAT, aka Livestronger: Plea deal and sentence

It has come to my attention that Brian Parker, who has sold anabolic steroids under the identity of Livestronger and THAT,  is the subject of speculation, regarding the plea arrangement and sentence stemming from his 2007 arrest and conviction. He was sentenced to 30 months and was released in late 2009.
He got 30 months, which is a very long time to serve for one count of conspiracy to distribute anabolic steroids – and certainly one of the longer sentences handed out in connection with that bust. The long story (made short) is that he was charged with two related counts, and in exchange for a guilty plea on one, the other was dropped. Additionally, he did not receive a 51k letter, which is the special letter that you get, when you’ve done a good job as a snitch. Chemco, AP, etc…got that letter as did Kirk Radomski and a lot of other notable snitches.
While I realize that he has since gotten in trouble (*again, for dealing steroids), I thought I’d post his original sentence and plea deal, neither of which leads me to believe that he cut a deal to become an informant:
As I said, it appears unlikely that he received any special treatment on this sentence, and it is also unlikely that he ratted anyone out for the ’07 bust. I’m always happy to help out, and if additional information is required, drop me an email, and I’ll see what I can do.

Pfizer Testosterone Depot (Fake Or Real You Tell Us!!!)

We recently got an email about this brand (Testosterone Cypionate by Pfizer), here are two pictures of this product, they are almost identical except for one very small detail which can make all the difference from a real product to a counterfeit product. On the first picture at the bottom of the label on the vial you will see it says "10 mL vial / flacon" but on the second picture it says "10 mL vial / fiole", the difference is clearly the words flacon and fiole on the vials. We definitely know that the second picture is the real deal as we have seen this product come straight out of the pharmacy recently, now is the first picture just a different or old label that Pfizer uses or used in Canada?? or is this a counterfeit. We have searched and searched trying to find another picture with the word "flacon" on the label just like the first picture has, but came back empty. We suggest you stay away from this brand unless the box has the prescription sticker on it still with the patients name.
There are TONS of VERY well made counterfeits of this product floating in Canada, is this one of them? Please let us know what you think in the comments.

March Pharmaceuticals

Here are some REAL and FAKE Danabol DS and Stanozolol products from March Pharmaceuticals, the manufacturer claims all recent Body Research versions are fake, Body Research does not distribute Danabol DS.
Buyer beware any bottle of Danabol DS with a Body Research logo and (“Distributed by Body Research”) is a counterfeit of March Pharmaceutical’s registered/licensed product. March Pharmaceutical does not export products outside Thailand. Counterfeit Danabol DS can be found worldwide and even at pharmacies inside Thailand.
